If you're going to Thailand you're going to need condoms for when you have sex with post-op transesxuals. I know you're nto planing on that but hey, better to have and not need than need and not have. JK.
If you wanna do this like a REAL man, we'd drop you in downtown Bangcock with just the clothes on your back, $20 US cash, a box of matches, piece of rope, pocket knife and a package of 12 plastic-sealed CR-2016 lithium button batteries and let you make your way back to The the US in under a week to claim a $1,000 reward.
How I'd do it? Walk into the nearest US embassy. Technically you'd be in the US.

That is about what I brought with me (a small backpack and a sports bag) and I and staying in Thailand forever. I left behind a 10 room house and 60 years of "stuff". Much happier without it.

It's not truly an escape if you're carrying extra baggage. Minimize what you need and take a weight off your shoulders. For peace of mind, Pack Light.

Not bad! Dump the overweight Mac, add a 12-inch laptop (bigger than a netbook) and ... MOST importantly ... an ATM card. It's magic. Money comes out of slots in the walls.
Maybe add a second pair of long pants. Monsoon can be messy, and laundries can be SLOW.

Was wondering whether you know any 'old cameras repair shops' in Bangkok
a few years back a friend of mine took several old cameras to a shop called 'T.K. Camera Repair' located in Sukhumvit soi 8. However, when my friend went to collect the cameras he couldn't find the shop......as the shop had relocated elsewhere......
....since then my friend and I have been going around Bangkok from time to time, dropping by any old camera repairers in order to trace down the T.K Camera Repair shop owner/staff

I was wondering how much that all weighed? I'm keen to do something similar but all airlines have a carry on weight restriction from my country (7 kgs).

OMG that's how much stuff I take with me to work! (not really, but I was using it as an example). Neat shot, btw.
